Key Returns and Player Updates
Pat Cummins returns to lead the team after missing recent matches due to injury and personal reasons. He has recovered from an ankle injury and also took a break to spend time with his family. His presence will give a boost to the bowling attack and team leadership.
Josh Hazlewood also returns after recovering from a hip injury. He is an important part of Australia’s fast-bowling group and will be key on English pitches. Cameron Green is back in the team but will play as a specialist batter. He had back surgery in 2024 and is still recovering fully. Even without his bowling, his batting skills add depth to the middle order.

New Face in the Squad
The surprise name in the squad is 19-year-old opener Sam Konstas. He plays domestic cricket for New South Wales and impressed the selectors with his performances in the Sheffield Shield. This is his first call-up to the senior national side. Including him shows Australia is thinking about the future as well.
Batting Line-up
The Australian batting line-up remains strong with the likes of Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Usman Khawaja, and Travis Head. These four are expected to form the core of the batting unit. Smith and Labuschagne have been consistent performers in Test cricket, while Head brings attacking flair.
Alex Carey will take up the wicket keeping duties. He has been solid behind the stumps and useful with the bat as well. Josh Inglis is also in the squad as a backup wicketkeeper.
Bowling Attack
Australia’s bowling attack looks strong and balanced. Among them, the experienced fast-bowling trio of Hazlewood, Starc, and Cummins adds strength to the attack. Scott Boland provides another seam option and has done well in English conditions in the past. The spin department is led by Nathan Lyon, with support from Kuhnemann if needed.
Beau Webster, a batting all-rounder who bowls medium pace, also finds a place in the squad. He has been performing well in domestic cricket and offers an extra option in both departments.
