A leading renewable energy solutions provider specializing in solar power has secured its first standalone grid-scale battery storage project. This article details the company’s landmark win for a 275 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Andhra Pradesh, awarded by NHPC.

ACME Solar Holdings Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 15,024 crores, rose to Rs. 255, hitting a high of up to 2.74 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 248.20. However, the stock over the past year has given a negative return of 1.68 percent.

Order Details

ACME Solar has secured its first standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project from NHPC in Andhra Pradesh, with a total capacity of 275 MW / 550 MWh across two sites Kuppam and Ghani. The projects were won at tariffs of Rs. 2.1 lakh/MW and Rs. 2.22 lakh/MW per month.

The project mandates that the system remains operational for two full cycles of two hours each day. ACME Solar will be eligible for viability gap (grant provided by the government) funding of Rs. 27 lakh per MWh or up to 30% of the total project cost, whichever is lower.

This win marks ACME Solar’s entry into standalone BESS, expanding its renewable energy portfolio beyond solar, wind, and hybrid projects. The tender was issued by NHPC in February 2025 to boost energy storage capacity in the state.

Current Operational Capacity

As of June 2025, ACME’s operational capacity has reached 2,826.2 MW, marking a substantial growth of 110.9% compared to 1,340 MW in March 2024. This significant increase reflects the company’s accelerated commissioning efforts and highlights its strong execution capabilities in scaling up renewable energy infrastructure within a short span.

Order Book

ACME has significantly expanded its order book in FY25 by securing 1,900 MW of new capacity, pushing its total contracted portfolio to 6,970 MW. This new addition reflects robust project acquisition and a strong market position across various energy segments.

The fresh wins are strategically diversified, comprising 1,000 MW from FDRE (Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy), 600 MW from solar, and 300 MW from hybrid sources. This balanced mix aligns with the company’s long-term vision of maintaining a diversified renewable energy portfolio.
