The shares of some of the leading capital market players are in focus today after a leading US-based trading firm, Jane Street, has reportedly funded Rs 4,843 crore into the escrow account, according to SEBI guidelines.

According to sources, Jane Street has reportedly deposited Rs 4,843 in the escrow account, which was mentioned as per the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). It is said that this will clear the way for the US firm to resume its trading in India’s Derivatives market.

However, Jane Street has been warned of repeating such things in the future and to refrain from engaging in any activities that are manipulative, fraudulent, or unfair under existing regulations. The firm has also been directed not to deploy the trading strategy flagged by SEBI in its interim order. However, a SEBI circular has not yet been released in this matter.

According to SEBI’s interim order, Jane Street and its entities made a profit of over Rs 36,000 crore in the last two years through trading in index options and futures. SEBI identified illegal gains of Rs 4,843 crore.

Overall, SEBI reported that the Jane Street group earned over Rs 43,000 crore from index options alone between January 2023 and March 2025. However, they also faced losses of about Rs 7,687 crore in the stock futures, index futures, and cash segments.

Shares of several stock market-related companies are trading higher today. The Bombay Stock Exchange is up by 4 percent. Nuvama Wealth has gained 2 percent. Angel One is up 1.3 percent, and CDSL has risen by 2 percent.

Meanwhile, the NIFTY 50 is trading at 25,092.70, down 57 points from its previous close of 25,149.85. Among the top gainers in the index, Eternal rose 1.3 percent. Adani Enterprises and IndusInd Bank followed, with gains of 1.14 percent and 1.11 percent, respectively.
