Air India plane (AI 171) crashed in the Meghaninagar area near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday afternoon, according to police officials. It was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that crashed during the early hours.
As per DGCA, there were 242 people on board, consisting of 2 pilots and 10 cabin crew. Fire officer Jayesh Khadia confirmed that the aircraft caught fire upon impact, prompting the immediate deployment of fire tenders to extinguish the blaze. Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik stated, “A plane has crashed near the airport in Meghaninagar. The type of aircraft involved is yet to be identified.”
However, the authorities have been taking all the necessary precautions. In addition to it, Interglobe Aviation and Spicejet are down by 2 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively, and Boeing shares are down by almost 5 percent in the pre-open market.
