With the market capitalization of Rs. 3,182 Crores, the shares of Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd reached an intraday high of Rs. 129.48 per share rising over 14 percent from its previous day close of Rs. 113.10 per share and is trading at a P/E of 15.9 whereas industry P/E stands at 15.

Strong Quarterly Performance

Bhansali Engineering reported a solid performance in the first quarter of FY27, with total income rising 50.9% year-on-year to ₹481.9 crore from ₹319.3 crore. EBITDA increased 44.5% to ₹92.3 crore from ₹63.9 crore, while profit after tax grew 42.9% to ₹65.6 crore from ₹45.9 crore. Although margins were slightly lower, the company maintained healthy profitability through better cost control and operating efficiencies.

Expansion Without Taking Debt

The biggest highlight of the quarter is the company’s decision to fund its ~₹200 crore debottlenecking project entirely through internal accruals. This allows Bhansali Engineering to remain debt-free while expanding its manufacturing capacity from 75,000 MTPA to 100,000 MTPA. The project is expected to be commissioned by September 2026, with optimal utilisation planned in FY28.

Strong Cash Position Supports Growth

Management said the company continues to maintain a healthy cash position even after announcing its first interim dividend. This gives it enough financial flexibility to fund the planned capital expenditure, meet additional working capital needs after the capacity expansion and maintain a comfortable liquidity buffer to deal with any uncertainty in the business environment.

Focus on Shareholder Returns

Along with investing for future growth, the company has continued its focus on rewarding shareholders. The Board declared a first interim dividend involving a cash outlay of around ₹24.9 crore, reflecting confidence in the company’s financial position and its balanced approach towards growth and shareholder returns.

Preparing for Higher Domestic Demand

The planned capacity expansion is expected to strengthen Bhansali Engineering’s position as one of India’s lowest-cost ABS producers. It also puts the company in a better position to benefit from rising domestic demand and reduce dependence on imports, which currently account for around 30–40% of India’s ABS demand. At the same time, the company is improving its product mix by focusing on higher-margin specialty and colour grades.

Conclusion

Bhansali Engineering has started FY27 on a strong note by combining healthy earnings growth with disciplined financial management. Instead of relying on debt, the company is using its own cash flows to fund capacity expansion while continuing to reward shareholders through dividends. With higher production capacity expected later this year and a focus on meeting rising domestic ABS demand, the company appears well placed to support long-term growth while maintaining a strong balance sheet.
