UK Signed Investment Agreement for £38 Billion Nuclear Power Plant

The UK government has given the green light to a massive £38 billion investment for the Sizewell C nuclear power station located in Suffolk, in the southeast of England. This facility will house two French EPR reactors, which are set to provide clean energy to around six million homes and create 10,000 jobs during peak construction.

The UK will own a 44.9% share, while the rest will be held by La Caisse (20%), Centrica (15%), and EDF (12.5%). This is a significant milestone as it’s the first time British consumers will have a stake in a nuclear power plant. The project, which is modelled after Hinkley Point C, aims to cut costs and speed up the expansion of nuclear energy in the UK.
