  • US-EU Trade Tensions Rise as Tariff Deadline Comes Near
    • The U.S. has set a hard deadline of August 1 to impose a 30% tariff on goods from the EU, unless a trade agreement is reached by then. While the U.S. is still open to negotiations even after that date, the tariffs will kick in as planned. The EU is racing against the clock to finalize a deal, aiming for terms similar to what the U.K. secured, but they’re facing hurdles due to strained relations with President Trump. In retaliation, the EU is gearing up for counter-tariffs that could reach up to €72 billion and might even activate its anti-coercion trade tool. All EU member states are on board with taking action—except for Hungary, which is aligned with Trump.
  • Rare earth imports from China grew 660% to the USA
    • As per China’s General Administration of Customs, China exported 353 metric tons of rare-earth permanent magnets in June, which is an increase of 660% from the previous month, making it the largest destination after Germany.
  • The Dow Jones Futures is currently trading at 44,446 levels, or 0.24% up
  • The FTSE is currently trading at 8,992 levels flat from its previous close
  • DAX is currently trading at 24,267 levels, or 0.09% down
