Cricket Australia has announced their 15-member squad for the three ODI matches against India and a 14-member squad for the first two T20 matches. Pat Cummins has not been included in either squad as he continues to recover from a back injury. He is expected to be fit before the Ashes series begins in November. So Mitchell Marsh will lead both the squad.
Mitchell Starc is set to make his first appearance of the summer, as his name is included in the ODI squad. However, he has not been named in the T20 squad after announcing his retirement from T20 internationals to focus on the Test and ODI formats.
Starc remains Australia’s second-highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals. Uncapped batter Matthew Renshaw has been included in the squad for the first time and is set to make his international debut. Mitchell Owen is also in line for a debut after impressing in domestic one-day cricket.
Both Renshaw and Owen have been added to the squad as Cricket Australia looks to build a strong foundation for the 2027 ODI World Cup, following the recent retirements of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Marcus Stoinis.
Marnus Labuschagne has been left out of the ODI squad, not a major surprise, given that he has scored only 47 runs in his last 10 ODI matches. After missing the last series due to a calf strain, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has regained fitness and earned a place in both the ODI and T20I squads.
Cameron Green has been included in the ODI squad but left out of the T20s as he prepares for the upcoming England series and will continue playing Sheffield Shield cricket for Western Australia.
