Synopsis:
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineering Limited has entered into five Memorandums of Understanding with different organizations to grow its operations in shipbuilding, ports, and infrastructure.

The shares of the shipbuilding company mainly focus on building ships for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard, and are in radar after signing an MOU with Deendayal Port Authority, Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority, Indian Port Rail & Ropeway Corporation, Shipping Corporation of India, and Modest Infrastructure Private Limited for improving India’s shipbuilding capabilities and supporting the country’s maritime sector.

With a market capitalization of Rs.31,183.35 crore, the shares of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineering Limited are trading at Rs.2,722.20, up by 4.54 percent from the previous day’s closing price of Rs.2,604.10. Further, it made a high of Rs. 2,761 up 6 percent.

About the MOU

On September 20, 2025, during the Samudra Se Samriddhi mission launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhavnagar, India, the country took a major step toward becoming one of the world’s top five shipbuilding nations by 2047. Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited Chairman has signed agreements with key partners, including Shipping Corporation of India and Modest Infrastructure.

The MOU gives a structured plan for GRSE and its partners to collaborate on multiple initiatives. This includes building new ships, including environmentally friendly and low-emission vessels, repairing ships, constructing green tugs, developing and maintaining port infrastructure, improving jetties and berths, enhancing logistics and last-mile connectivity, and supporting related civil, rail, and ropeway infrastructure for strengthening India’s shipbuilding industry and maritime sector.

About The Company 

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited is a Defence Public Sector company under the Ministry of Defence. Primarily constructs ships for the Indian Navy and Coast Guard. It also builds a variety of smaller vessels, including boats, barges, ferries, tugs, dredgers, and rescue or fishing boats. 

In the opening of Q1FY26, the company’s operating revenue rose to Rs.1,310 crore from Rs.1,010 crore in Q1FY25. Net profit also grew to Rs.120 crore compared to Rs.87 crore a year earlier. The return on equity is 27.6 percent, and the return on capital employed is 36.6 percent. In continuation, the stock is trading at a P/E of 55.59 with an industry average of 76.22.
