The sponsorship race for India’s cricket team jersey has taken a new turn after Dream11, the fantasy sports giant, exited its role as the title sponsor of the Indian cricket team.
The BCCI is on the lookout for new partners to associate with one of the most visible and marketable jerseys in world sport. They are even expecting more money than their previous deal with Dream 11.
Why did the BCCI lose Dream 11 as its Title Sponsor?
Dream 11 has reportedly backed out as the Title Sponsor for the Indian Cricket Team jersey following the recent passing of the ‘Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill. This bill, which seeks to ban real-money gaming platforms, was passed by both houses of parliament on Thursday.
Dream11 made a deal with the BCCI in 2023, signing a contract worth ₹358 crore, equivalent to ₹3 crore per home match, and ₹1 crore per away game. This deal was to continue until 2026.
The sponsor’s decision to pull out is unlikely to be penalised, owing to a clause in the contract. This clause states that if the sponsor’s core business is affected by a change in law enforced by the Indian government, they ‘won’t be liable to pay anything’ to the cricket board.”
How will Team India move forward for the Asia Cup?
The Asia Cup 2025, taking place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, is set to start on 9 September and will continue until 28 September. Some sources suggest that Team India’s jersey for the tournament has already been printed, featuring Dream 11 as the title sponsor.
The same jersey will reportedly not be used for the tournament. If the BCCI is unable to strike a new partnership deal, Team India will enter the Asia Cup without a lead sponsor.

Top Contenders to Replace Dream 11 as Title Sponsor
Fintech Companies
Companies such as Zerodha, Angel One, and Groww have built a huge base of customers over the last year or so. These firms offer an online trading platform that facilitates the trading of stocks, derivatives, currencies, commodities, mutual funds, and bonds. This sponsorship can help them expand their customer base.
Conglomerates
Top conglomerates like Reliance, Tata, and the Adani Group may also see this as a lucrative sponsorship opportunity. Tata already heads as the official sponsor for the IPL, Reliance owns the Mumbai Indians as well as IPL broadcasting rights on JioHotstar. The Adani Group has also ventured into the sports industry, owning the Gujarat Giants, a franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
Automobile or FMCG Companies
The automobile and FMCG sector companies are also expected to be strong contenders. Over the years, they have sponsored numerous cricketing events. Automobile producers such as Mahindra and Toyota may look to pounce on this opportunity to boost consumer connection. Meanwhile, FMCG brands, such as Pepsi, which have long-standing presence in sporting sponsorships, may view this as another lucrative opportunity.
Conclusion
With Dream11 stepping away from the lead sponsorship role, the race to sponsor India’s cricket team jersey is now wide open. The BCCI’s next move will not only bring a fresh brand to the forefront but will also shape how the team is represented on the global stage.
As top companies line up to seize this opportunity, the decision will reflect both the financial strength of Indian cricket and the unmatched value of associating with one of the sport’s most iconic jerseys.
