Synopsis:
Ola Electric Mobility Limited shares fell 7 percent on Friday after Japanese investment firm SoftBank sold 2.15 percent of its stake, bringing its total sales in the past two months to 15.68 percent through open market transactions.
The shares of EV firm engaged in producing electric vehicles with essential parts like battery packs, motors, and the vehicle’s frame, gained attention after SoftBank offloaded a total 2.15 percent stake in Ola Electric Mobility Limited.
With a market capitalization of Rs.26,398.82 crore, the shares of Ola Electric Mobility Limited were trading at Rs.59.85, down by 7.34 percent from the previous day’s closing price of Rs.64.59 and hitting a 52-week high of Rs.123.90.
What caused the decline in Ola Electric’s share price?
Japanese investment company SoftBank reduced its stake in Ola Electric Mobility Limited by selling 2.15 percent through open market transactions, bringing its total holding from 17.83 percent to 15.68 percent, but it still owns 691.6 million shares of Ola Electric Mobility Limited, making it the second-largest shareholder after founder Mr.Bhavish Aggarwal.
The sales exceeded the 2 percent limit set by SEBI’s Takeover Regulations. Before this transaction, SoftBank held 786.5 million shares, or a 17.83 percent stake in Ola Electric Mobility Limited.

Business & Outlook
Ola Electric Mobility Limited focuses on manufacturing electric vehicles in India and is developing end-to-end technology and manufacturing capabilities for EVs and their components, including battery cells. And also produces electric vehicles along with key parts such as battery packs, motors, and vehicle frames.
Revenue from operations shrank from Rs.1,644 crore in Q1FY25 to Rs.828 crore in Q1FY26, while net loss increased from Rs.374 crore to Rs.428 crore. The company has reported an ROE of negative 108 percent and an ROCE of negative 28.1 percent.
As of June 2025, promoter owns a 36.78 percent stake in the company, FIIs holds 4.47 percent, DIIs holds 2.87 percent, 50.70 percent is held by the public, and the remaining 5.18 percent is held by the others category.
