In the 2025 Formula 1 season, McLaren sealed the Constructors’ Championship at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 5, marking a historic milestone for the British team. The victory came after a dominant season where both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri delivered consistent performances, helping McLaren become one of the most successful teams in Formula 1 history.
What is the Constructors’ Championship?
Formula 1 awards two main titles each year, one for drivers and one for teams. The Constructors’ Championship, introduced in 1958, goes to the team that scores the most combined points through both its drivers over a season.
Each constructor builds, designs and races in their own car, collecting points from both of the drivers based on the race finishes – 25 for 1st place, 18 for 2nd place, 15 for 3rd place and so on. The World Constructors’ Championship is crowned to the team with the most points at the end of the season.
This title is regarded as Formula 1’s highest team honour, celebrating engineering skill, consistency, teamwork, and strategic brilliance, while also bringing major financial rewards from the FIA.
