National Pension System (NPS) is one of the few retirement-focused products in India. It is an attempt to provide adequate retirement income to every citizen of India. Under this system, individual savings are pooled into a pension fund which are invested by PFRDA-regulated professional fund managers.
Investments are made in diversified portfolios comprising Government Bonds, Bills, Corporate Debentures and Shares. Some of the fund managers in the scheme include the likes of SBI Pension Fund, LIC Pension Fund, HDFC Pension Fund, ICICI Prudential Pension fund and more.
These funds invest in asset classes like Scheme E (Equity), Scheme G (Government Debt), Scheme C (Corporate Bonds), and Scheme A (Alternative Investments).

The pension fund held 25,03,788 shares of the company which amounts to 6.86% of its holdings. Reliance is a Fortune 500 company and one of the largest conglomerates in India. It has evolved from being a textiles and polyester company to an integrated player across energy, materials, retail, entertainment and digital services.
HDFC Bank Limited
The pension fund held 23,85,346 shares of the company which amounts to 6.64% of its holdings. HDFC Bank is another major private sector bank in India. It provides a range of banking and financial services including retail banking, wholesale banking and treasury operations.
Infosys Limited
The pension fund held 42,16,823 shares of the company which amounts to 4.33% of its holdings. It is the second largest IT company in India, after Tata Consultancy Services. It provides consulting, technology, outsourcing and next-generation digital services to enable clients to execute strategies for their digital transformation.
State Bank Of India
The pension fund held 61,21,945 shares of the company which amounts to 3.55% of its holdings. It is the largest and one of the oldest banks in the country. It is a Fortune 500
company and an Indian multinational public sector banking and financial services statutory body.
