TATA Group is one of India’s largest conglomerates, comprising 30 companies across ten verticals. The group operates in over 100 countries across six continents. The combined market cap of Tata Companies was $300 billion (INR 24 trillion) as of July 31, 2023.
Tata Sons is the principal investment holding company and promoter of Tata Companies. The group imprints are found in a wide range of sectors. As of July 31, 2023, there are 29 publicly traded Tata companies with a total market value of $300 billion (INR 24 trillion).
The most recent public offering from the Tata group launched in November 2023, with Tata Technologies unveiling a ₹3,000-crore IPO. This marked the conglomerate’s inaugural public offering since Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) went public in 2004.
Recently, the RBI instructed Tata Sons to list on Indian stock exchanges by September 2025. This directive is a result of the RBI’s categorization of Tata Sons as an “upper-layer” NBFC, which requires the company to go public within three years.
Consequently, Tata Sons seem to be gearing up for this move. Last week, it raised $1 billion by divesting some of its 72% stake in Tata Consultancy.
These funds could be utilized to reduce debt and streamline the holding company in preparation for its public offering. From this, the group is gearing for other eight privately listed companies to list on the Indian stock market.
Below are the eight Tata Group companies that plan to go public within the next 2-3 years.
