According to Crisil’s India Infrastructure Conclave 2025, India is expected to see green investments grow five-fold to approximately ₹31 lakh crore between 2025 and 2030. Out of this, around ₹19 lakh crore is projected to be invested in renewable energy and storage. This investment is essential for the country to meet net-zero targets under the Paris Agreement, as India aims to reduce its carbon intensity by 45% and achieve 50% non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.
Companies in the renewable energy and storage sectors can benefit significantly from these investments. The renewable energy value chain which includes solar and wind power, can benefit and provide opportunities for manufacturers of solar panels, wind turbines, and energy storage systems. Further, it includes companies involved in the process of production, installation, and maintenance of renewable infrastructure.
Energy storage systems such as batteries can receive a share of the investments, which can benefit firms developing and providing advanced storage technologies. India has a renewable energy target of achieving 500GW from non-fossil sources by 2030.
In addition to the established technologies, the emerging sectors like green hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) which require financial support can benefit from expected investments over time. With the help of government policies, grants, and incentives companies can leverage this opportunity. The green bond market and development finance institutions are expected to play a key role in financing these ventures.
