In January of 2018. Under the Make in India Initiative, India and Israel firms signed a joint venture agreement in the defense sector for technology transfer as well as joint research and development in defense and security fields. 

Israel is India’s second-largest trade partner, with defense purchases from the country after only Russia. 

As per the report, India currently exports defense equipment to over 84 nations, with total exports reaching an all-time high of Rs 16,000 crore in FY23, up from Rs 690 crore in FY14. 

Here are five companies that export defense equipment to the Israel Defense Force 

HBL Power Systems Ltd. 

HBL Power System Ltd is a company that makes and serves various types of batteries, e-mobility, and other products. 

HBL power systems supply batteries to Israel’s armed forces which are used for defense applications such as Silver Oxide Zinc batteries for Torpedo Propulsion, Sealed Lead-acid Batteries for use on Battle Tanks and APC, Lithium Thermal batteries for use in Missiles and Torpedoes, 

On Friday, Company shares were trading at Rs 276.10 a share, up 1.71 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 7,653 crore. 

Astra Microwave Products Ltd. 

Astra Microwave Products is in the business of designing, developing, and manufacturing radio frequency and microwave subsystems for application in defense, space, meteorology, and telecommunications. 

On Friday, Company shares were trading at Rs 465.45 a share, up 2.19 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 4,423 crore. 

Astra Microwave Products has formed a joint venture with Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defence Systems for the production and supply of tactical radio communication, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence systems. 

Bharat Dynamics Ltd.

Bharat Dynamics (BDL), is engaged in the manufacturing of guided missiles and allied defense equipment. 

On Friday, Company shares were trading at Rs 957.85 a share, down 0.07 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 17,541 crore. 

Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is an Indian manufacturer of ammunition and missile systems, including the Torpedo Advanced Lightweight (TAL), and the company supplies lightweight Torpedo to Israel and Myanmar armed forces. 

Larsen & Toubro Ltd. 

Larsen & Toubro Ltd manufactures launch vehicle systems and Subsystems for the Indian Space Programme and various missile subsystems for the Indian Missiles Programme and Global OEMs.And company provides Subsystems to the Israel Defence Forces. 

On Friday, Company shares were trading at Rs 2,900.45 a share, up 1.26 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 4,07,686 crore. 

L&T’s defense solutions encompass land-based weapon systems, air defense and artillery systems and upgrades, naval weapon launch systems with fire-control systems, and launch systems for space missions as well as for the Armed Forces across the globe. 

Bharat Electronics Ltd

On Friday, Company shares were trading at Rs 131.60 a share, up 2.13 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 96,196 crore. 

Bharat Electronics exports Thermal Image Fire control Systems to Israel. Bharat Electronics Ltd manufactures and supplies electronic equipment and systems to the defense sector. 

Further,The company provides products and systems in areas of radar and fire Control Systems, Missile Systems, Communication and C4I systems, Electronic Warfare, and avionics.
