Shares of Vedanta Ltd were at Rs 285.90 levels after gaining 3.06 percent on Tuesday’s trading session from the previous close price. In the past month, the stock has jumped around 5.89 percent ranging from Rs 203.65 to the current price levels. In the last three years, the stock has rallied around 269.51 percent ranging from Rs 77.40 to the current price level. 

One of the probable reasons for the stock prices to surge today is that the company’s pledged shares worth ₹70,444 crores were released after repaying loans worth $800 million to Standard Chartered Bank. 

Vedanta Resources (VRL), Vedanta’s parent company, has successfully paid off three Standard Chartered Bank accounts in London and Hong Kong. Twin Star Holdings, Vedanta Netherlands Investments, and Vedanta Resources raised the $400 million, $250 million, and $150 million facilities, with VRL and its subsidiaries acting as guarantors. 

The shares of its subsidiaries had previously been pledged for these assets, but the company was able to free them by repaying the loans in full. but the company has managed to release them by repaying the loans in full. 

Vedanta Ltd is a diversified natural resource group engaged in exploring, extracting, and processing minerals and oil & gas. The group engages in the exploration, production, and sale of zinc, lead, silver, copper, aluminum, iron ore, and oil & gas. It has a presence across India, South Africa, Namibia, Ireland, Liberia & UAE.

Its other businesses include commercial power generation, steel manufacturing & port operations in India, and manufacturing of glass substrates in South Korea and Taiwan

The company is set to release its Q4 in the upcoming weeks. Having a quick walkthrough of the financials of the previous quarter, their operating revenues slightly reduced from Rs 36,654  crores in Q2 to Rs 34,102 crores in Q3. On the contrary, the net profits of the company, during the same period, have increased from Rs 2,687 crores to Rs 3,091 crores in Q3. 

Having a YoY comparison of the metrics, the revenues significantly improved from Rs 88,021 crores during FY20-21 to Rs 132,732 crores in FY21-22. The PAT numbers have shifted upwards within the timeframe mentioned from Rs 15,032 cores to a profit of Rs 23,710 crores. 

The debt-to-equity ratio of the company has maintained at 0.80 in   FY20-21 to FY 21-22. 

According to the latest data pertaining to the shareholding pattern, promoters of the company hold a 68.11 percent stake and have pledged 99.99 percent. In addition to that, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) hold a 7.89  percent stake in the company for FY 22-23.
