The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is the largest domestic institutional investor in India. It has a stake in many companies across various sectors in India. Many investors keep track of its portfolio and add those stocks to their watchlist. 

Here are a few large-cap stocks in which LIC has more than a 10 percent stake: 

Coal India 

Coal India is mainly engaged in mining and production of coal and also operates coal washeries. Its major consumers are the power and steel sectors. As per the latest shareholding pattern of the company, LIC holds 67,80,15,625 shares or an 11.00 percent stake in the company. Coal India is a large-cap stock with a market capitalization of ₹ 1,42,297 crores. Its shares were trading at ₹ 230.90 apiece. 

Hero Motocorp 

Hero Motocorp is one of India’s first motorcycle manufacturers. The company started in 1984 as a Technological collaboration with Honda, Japan. Before this collaboration, Hero was selling Cycles under the brand name, Hero Cycles. As per the latest shareholding pattern of the company, LIC holds 2,24,25,838 shares or an 11.22 percent stake in the company. Hero Motocorp is a large-cap stock with a market capitalization of ₹ 58,996 crores. Its shares were trading at ₹ 2939.05 apiece. 

ITC 

ITC is the largest cigarette manufacturer and seller in the country. It operates in five business segments at present — FMCG Cigarettes, FMCG Others, Hotels, Paperboards, Paper and Packaging, and Agri-Business. As per the latest shareholding pattern of the company, LIC holds 1,89,68,61,285 shares or a 15.22 percent stake in the company. ITC is a large-cap stock with a market capitalization of ₹ 5,61,686 crores. Its shares were trading at ₹ 450.45 apiece. 

IDBI Bank 

IDBI Bank is engaged in the business of monetary intermediation of commercial banks, saving banks, postal savings banks and discount houses. As per the latest shareholding pattern of the company, LIC holds 5,29,41,02,939 shares or a 49.24 percent stake in the company. IDBI Bank is a large-cap stock with a market capitalization of ₹ 66,987 crores. Its shares were trading at ₹ 62.55 apiece.
