On Friday, the shares of Navratna stock gained 8 percent to Rs 131.85 a share after the company released its FY24 second quarter results. 

At 12:50 p.m., NLC India Ltd shares were trading at Rs 4,374 per share, up Rs 242 or 5.15 percent from the previous close price. The company has a market capitalization of Rs 17,790 crore. 

As per the company’s consolidated financials, it reported a 10 percent decline in revenue year on year, from Rs 3,579 crore in Q2FY23 to Rs 3,234 crore in Q2FY24. During the same period, net profit increased by 160 percent from Rs 417 crore to Rs 1,085 crore. 

In comparison to the previous quarter, operational revenue declined by 5.6 percent from Rs 3,428 crore in Q1FY24 to Rs 3,234 crore in Q2FY24, Further net profit has increased by 162 percent from Rs 413 crore to Rs 1,085 crore. According to the company’s exchange filing. 

The company has cut its gasoline costs by Rs 161 crores and its financing costs by Rs 123 crores. Because of this significant reduction in expenses, the company’s net profit margin jumped from 11.6 percent in Q2FY23 to 33.5 percent in Q2FY24. 

The shares of NLC India gained 60 percent in six months and 73 percent in a year. 

As per the shareholding pattern, promoters of the company hold a 79.2 percent stake and Domestic institutional investors hold a 13.49 percent stake in the company for FY 22-23. 

NLC India is in the lignite mining and power generation business, employing both lignite and renewable energy sources.
