Navratna stock rose 8.8 percent to a 52-week high price of ₹288.85 per share, on Monday after Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for a 2,400 MW Thermal Power Project.
At 12:05 p.m, NLC India shares were trading at ₹284.50 a share on the National Stock Exchange, up 7.20% from the previous close price, and the company has a market capitalization of ₹39,033 crores.
On February 03, 2024. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the the foundation stone of the Phase-1 NLC India Talabira Thermal Power Project 3×800 MW (2,400 MW) in Sambalpur, Odisha.With an estimated investment exceeding ₹27,000 Crore.
The project encompasses a 2,400 MW capacity in its initial phase and plans for an additional 800 MW in the second phase with an investment of over ₹ 8,000 Crore, is poised to become the largest Greenfield Pithead Thermal Power Station in the country. According to the company’s exchange filing.
NLC India shares have delivered a return of 131 percent in the last six months and 272 percent in a year. A shareholder investment of Rs 1 lakhs in the company a year ago, would be worth ₹ 3.72 lakhs.
The company’s revenues have declined by 15 percent year on year from ₹ 3,489 crores in Q2FY23 to ₹ 2,977 crores in Q2FY24, while net profit has increased by 160 percent in the same period, from ₹ 416 crores to ₹1,085 crores.
NLC India is a Navratna stock company engaged in mining lignite and generation of power by using lignite and Renewable Energy Sources.NLC has a total power generation capacity of 5071 MW. Within this capacity, 28% is derived from the renewable energy segment, while the remaining 72% is sourced from the thermal segment.
In the fiscal year 2022-23, NLC India Limited attained its highest power generation, reaching 30.08 billion units. The company has outlined a capital expenditure (capex) plan of ₹82,173 crores by the year 2030. Additionally, the company’s earnings per share for FY 22-23 increased to ₹9, up from ₹8.92 in the preceding year.
The company has diversified its projects in Pumped storage, Lignite to Methanol, Lignite to diesel, Battery Storage, and many more.
The NLC India’s operational utilization capacity has increased to 87% in FY 22-23 from 82% in FY 21-22.
