The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) increases the circuit limit for a stock to maintain market stability and prevent excessive price volatility.
This circuit limit represents the maximum permissible price movement for a security during a single trading session, either upwards or downwards, determined by the previous day’s closing price.
Periodically, the BSE assesses and revises circuit limits for different securities, considering factors like market capitalization, price-earnings ratio, price volatility, trading volume, client concentration, and the proportion of non-promoter shareholders.
As of April 5, the BSE has increased the circuit limit for 14 stocks, with the revised limits taking effect on the specified date.
Below are some stocks on which BSE has raised the circuit limit to 20 percent from its previous 5 percent.
