In Saturday’s Budget session, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the National Geospatial Mission, which aims to build strong geospatial infrastructure and data in India. This project, supported by the PM Gati Shakti plan, will improve areas like land record updating, urban planning, and infrastructure development.
Along with it, she also emphasized that this mission was in line with the BJP government’s vision to improve governance and service delivery through technology. This National Geospatial Mission is set to give a push to the work that is already being done by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Department of Space to map Indian cities and digitize government records.
By the use of geospatial data, the mission will enable more efficient and precise decision-making, thereby improving the planning and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects across the country.
