Earnings per share (EPS) refers to a company’s profit divided by the outstanding number of equity shares of its common stock. EPS is one of the most important indicators of profitability. The higher a company’s EPS is, the more profitable it is considered to be. 

Here are a few Tata group companies that saw a growth in EPS on a year-on-year (YoY) basis: 

Automotive Stampings and Assemblies Ltd. 

The Tata Group company mainly manufactures sheet-metal stampings, welded assemblies, and modules for passenger cars and commercial vehicles (largely for Tata Motors Limited). 

The company’s EPS increased to ₹ 2.41 in the April to June quarter of the current financial year, as compared to ₹ 0.47 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Automotive Stampings and Assemblies is a micro-cap company with a market capitalization of ₹ 664 crores. Its shares settled at ₹ 418.85 apiece. 

Tata Metaliks Ltd. 

Tata Metaliks is one of India’s leading producers of high-quality Pig Iron (PI) and Ductile Iron Pipes (DIP). Its products find use in the water infrastructure industry and are partly cast into PI for use in foundries. 

The company’s EPS increased to ₹ 1.44 in the June quarter of FY 2023-24, compared to ₹ 0.39 in the same quarter of the previous year. Tata Metaliks is a micro-cap company with a market capitalization of ₹ 664 crores. Its shares settled at ₹ 418.85 apiece. 

Tata Investment Corporation Ltd. 

Tata Investment Corporation is primarily engaged in the business of investment in listed and unlisted equity shares, debt instruments, mutual funds and so on. The company is an NBFC registered with the RBI. 

The company’s EPS increased to ₹ 29.02 in the June quarter of FY 2023-24, compared to ₹ 17.78 in the same quarter of the previous year. Tata Investment Corporation is a small-cap company with a market capitalization of ₹ 13,308 crores. Its shares settled at ₹ 2797.10 apiece. 

Benares Hotels Ltd. 

Benares Hotels operates its hotels — Taj Ganges and Taj Nadesar Palace in Varanasi and The Gateway Hotel, Gondia in Maharashtra. It became a subsidiary of The Indian Hotels Company (a Tata group company) in 2011. 

The company’s EPS increased to ₹ 48.47 in the June quarter of FY 2023-24, compared to ₹ 34.90 in the same quarter of the previous year. Benares Hotels is a micro-cap company with a market capitalization of ₹ 741 crores. Its shares settled at ₹ 5780.00 apiece.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. 

Tata Consultancy Services is the flagship company and a part of the Tata Group. It is an IT services, consulting and business solutions organisation that has been partnering with many of the world’s largest businesses in their transformation journeys for over 50 years. 

The company’s EPS increased to ₹ 30.26 in the June quarter of FY 2023-24, compared to ₹ 25.89 in the same quarter of the previous year. Tata Consultancy Services is a large-cap company with a market capitalization of ₹ 13,11,386 crores. Its shares settled at ₹ 3602.65 apiece.
