Out of hundreds of stockbrokers operating on NSE, the top six stock brokers make over 66% market share of the active clients. According to the data available on the NSE website, the total number of Active Clients on NSE as of 31st March 2022 is 3,60,35,020 i.e. 3.60 Crores. Out of these, Zerodha is the biggest stock broker with a total active client base of 62.77 lakhs on NSE which makes the market share of 17.42%.
Upstox, registered as RKSV Securities, has been closing the margin in the last six months and has acquired a market share of 14.47%, by giving tough competition to Zerodha. Its total active clients on NSE as of 31st March 2022 is 52.15 lakhs.
The other four leading stock brokers on NSE are Groww (38.47 lakhs active clients), Angel One (36.57 lakhs active clients), ICICI Securities (30.31 lakhs active clients), and 5paisa (17.54 lakhs active clients). Together these 6 stockbrokers make 2.38 Crore active clients on NSE.
For FY22, Zerodha reported a jump of over 60% in its profits and revenue at around Rs 1,800 crore and Rs 4,300 crore respectively. According to Zerodha’s website, it has over 9 million customers that contribute to over 15% of all retail order volumes in India daily by trading and investing.
