As the 2026 T20 World Cup approaches, featuring 20 participating teams, 19 spots have already been filled leaving just one slot remaining. Nepal and Oman have officially qualified for the 2026 World Cup. With the UAE defeating Samoa, both Oman and Nepal’s progression to the tournament was confirmed, regardless of the result of their remaining Super Six fixture.
The duo secured their berths for next year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after guaranteeing top-three finishes in the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier ahead of their Super Six clash.
With the UAE’s win against Samoa and with the Emiratis set to face Japan on Thursday, Oman and Nepal had their top-three finishes assured even before their meeting in the Super Six stage.

(India, being the host, had already secured qualification. Therefore, the top seven other teams from the 2024 edition have qualified.)
ICC Men’s T20I Rankings (Direct Qualifiers):
- New Zealand
- Pakistan
- Ireland
Criteria: New Zealand, Pakistan, and Ireland qualified for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup based on the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings, as per the ICC’s official cut-off date.
After accounting for the hosts (India and Sri Lanka) and the top seven teams from the 2024 T20 World Cup, the next three highest-ranked teams in the ICC T20I standings received direct entry to complete the 12 automatic qualifiers for the tournament.

With only one spot left for qualification in the World Cup, the UAE stand a strong chance of making it through. They are currently third in the points table, having won one of their four matches, and possess far more experience compared to the other teams.
The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will be the 10th edition of the tournament. It is scheduled to be co-hosted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) from February to March 2026.
