The match was already delayed because of rain. It started around 7:30, everything was going smoothly until the 10th over. After that the lights actually went off and it was said that there were some technical issues, so the match was stopped until the issue was fixed. Later it was announced that the match couldn’t be continued due to technical error in that specific area, so the match was suspended.
Everybody was asked to leave the stadium. But the actual reason was not a technical issue, it was a blackout. It was a very clever move by the authorities, they evacuated the stadium because there were air raid alerts. If they would have told the real reason people would have gotten scared and high chances stampedes could occur.
The security was looking for all the people present in the stadium and they were escorted safely. Due to the recent indefinite suspension of the IPL for a week by the BCCI, aimed at prioritizing the safety of players, officials, and fans, concerns over Dharamshala’s proximity to the Pakistan border have intensified, especially amidst escalating cross-border tensions involving missile and drone strikes, which have long necessitated heightened security measures.
The abandonment of this match has had significant implications for the IPL 2025 schedule. With the tournament suspended, 12 league matches and the subsequent playoffs are now in jeopardy. Reports suggest that these matches may be rescheduled, depending on the security situation.
