Synopsis- In a move by Kotak Mahindra Bank to consolidate and bring all its credit under the same umbrella and enhance cost effectiveness, the bank has announced to discontinue its Myntra Kotak Credit Card starting from 10 July 2025. Kotak Mahindra has announced the cancellation of the Myntra Credit Card effective before July 10. Shoppers must act quickly to understand the changes and secure their benefits. This was a co-branded financial product launched by Kotak Mahindra Bank in partnership with Myntra, aimed at fashion-conscious shoppers seeking value and rewards.

Reason to Discontinue Myntra Credit Card

1) Product Streamlining: As there are plenty of specialised co-branded cards available in the market, Kotak is planning to streamline its products, and as only a few individuals use the Myntra card, Kotak plans to move these users to a more premium card of theirs with similar services and some added features as well.

2) Regulating the Reward Structure: As there are other better cards by the bank, such as the League Platinum Card, which offers similar and better services but at a slightly higher cost, Kotak wanted to regulate the rewards on utility bill points, fuel rewards, and wallet top-ups more strictly. Moving the Myntra card users to the League Platinum card would allow the bank to regulate the rewards better.

3) Increased Competitions : With most of the top-tier Indian banks providing co-branded credit cards such as Axis Flipkart, ICICI Amazon, HDFC Swiggy, etc., the Kotak Myntra had a lesser number of users, hence the banks plan on shifting to a universal and more lifestyle-based approach.

The Benefits are getting Discontinued Along with the Credit Card

  • Myntra Card specific benefits: 7.5% instant discount will no longer be given on the Myntra card or the partner portals, nor the cashback or the reward structure will be available from 10 July 2025.
  • Discontinued General Rewards: Spending on utilities, fuel above ₹4,000/month, wallet recharges, education, and online gaming no longer earn reward points
  • Downgrade and changes in features: The Longue access on the Myntra card may not exist similarly in the League Platinum card, as it will depend on the variant. Additionally, and joining bonus on the Myntra card will no longer exist.
  • Gains from the Kotak League Platinum: The Kotak League Platinum card is a more universally applicable card with features such as
    • 8 reward points per ₹150 spent on general purchases
    • Fuel surcharge waiver: 1% capped at ₹3,500/year
    • Railway surcharge waiver: Up to ₹500/year
    • Milestone rewards: Spend ₹1.25 lakh in 6 months to receive either 4 PVR movie tickets or 10,000 reward points
    • Welcome bonus: On a fee-based variant, get 5,000 bonus points, which is equivalent to ₹500.

Timeline & Transition Process

  • June 1, 2025: Kotak introduced new terms–no rewards on the categories listed above.
  • July 10, 2025: Myntra Kotak Card ceases to exist; migration to Kotak League begins.
  • Post-migration: Additional benefits tied to Myntra purchases will end immediately; you’re billing and spend history will continue under the new card.

Tips for the Existing Cardholders

  • Review League Platinum Card Services: Check for fees, reward rates, milestone conditions, and especially annual charges, as it is important to know will the migration will bring you an LTF (Lifetime Free) on annual charges or not.
  • Updating EMI card details: If your Myntra card was used to pay any kind of EMIs on auto loans or otherwise, it is required to replace it with a new credit card, such as the League Platinum card.
  • Budgeting: To maximize value, strategize around general purchases, fuel expenses within ₹4,000/month, and milestone targets.
  • Going through Alternatives: If myntra shopping benefits were a priority, then you can go for the alternate card, such as Axis Flipkart or HDFC Swiggy, who provide similar benefits while shopping at Myntra.
  • Negotiate with Kotak: Some users report receiving LTF variants (e.g., Zen credit card) upon request post-migration. Call Kotak’s support, explain your loyalty, and request a fee waiver if interested.

The Bottom Line

Kotak Mahindra Bank’s discontinuation of the Myntra Kotak Credit Card reflects the shift the bank is planning towards a more simplified rewards and broader applicability approach by promoting its other credit cards, such as the Kotak League Platinum Card. But with a migration to another card, the existing users will lose the perks and benefits that were specifically designed for the Kotak Myntra card, but on the brighter side, now they will be serviced with more balanced credit services that include lifestyle, fuel, and travel benefits. Additionally, don’t forget to update your card info for auto-billings, and at least once, try reaching out to Kotak for potential fee waivers or LTF versions on any of their alternate card pre-migration.
