ASML shares plunged over 6.5% as it hints at no growth in FY26

  • ASML reported net sales of 7.7 billion euros ($8.95 billion) in the second quarter, ahead of estimates. However, the company said it cannot confirm that it will grow in 2026. ASML said it expects full-year 2025 net sales to grow 15%, narrowing its guidance from a previously announced forecast of between 30 billion euros to 35 billion euros.
  • US Tariffs talks: U.S. President Donald Trump announced that letters will soon be sent to smaller countries informing them of new U.S. tariff rates. He mentioned that the tariff is expected to be “a little over 10%.”
  • Russia launches fresh attack on Ukraine: Russian forces launched overnight attacks on four Ukrainian cities, mainly targeting energy infrastructure and injuring at least 15 people, according to officials. The strike comes as pressure mounts on the Kremlin ahead of a September 2 deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump to reach a peace deal in the ongoing three-year war, with the threat of tough U.S. sanctions if no agreement is made.
  • UK CPI Inflation data: Britain’s consumer price inflation rose unexpectedly to 3.6% in June, the highest in over a year, driven mainly by higher transport and fuel costs. This surprise jump may prompt the Bank of England to delay interest rate cuts, even as concerns grow about a slowing economy and weak job market.

  • MTNL: Stock in focus after defaulting on loans totaling Rs. 8,585 crores ($1 billion). The loans were made by seven public sector banks, with Union Bank of India and Indian Overseas Bank having the biggest exposure.
