Sensex started at 80,295.99, gaining 138.11 points (0.17%) over its previous close of 80,157.88. Meanwhile, Gift Nifty was trading at 24,640.50. Indian markets opened mixed, with Nifty 50 and Sensex starting higher, while Bank Nifty edged lower. Gift Nifty traded slightly above the Nifty’s opening levels.

  • Australia’s economy grew at its fastest pace since September 2023 in the second quarter, outpacing expectations. GDP rose 1.8% year-on-year, beating the 1.6% forecast by Reuters-polled economists and improving from 1.3% in the prior quarter. On a sequential basis, GDP expanded 0.6%, slightly above the 0.5% projection.
  • Chinese President Xi Jinping warned that the world stands at a crossroads between “peace or war” and “dialogue or confrontation.” U.S. President Donald Trump urged Xi to acknowledge America’s role in securing China’s freedom, while also accusing him of conspiring against the United States. 
  • The event featured a highly choreographed military parade displaying China’s latest domestically produced weapons and defense equipment.

JSW Cement Q1 (Consolidated YoY)

The company reported a sharp widening of net loss to Rs. 1,356.2 crore from Rs. 15.1 crore, primarily due to an exceptional loss of Rs. 1,466.4 crore. Revenue, however, grew 7.8% to Rs. 1,559.8 crore, while EBITDA jumped 61.4% to Rs. 322.65 crore, with margins improving to 20.7% from 13.8%.

  • Galaxy Investments II (sponsor owned by KKR Asia Pacific Infrastructure Holdings) offloaded 20.48 crore units (13.56%) at Rs. 98.01 per unit, worth Rs. 2,007.2 crore.
  • 2452991 Ontario (owned by Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board) sold 4.69 crore units (3.11%) at Rs. 98.02 per unit, totaling Rs. 460.4 crore.
  • As per the latest unitholding pattern, Galaxy Investments II held 27.85%, while Ontario owned 25% in the InvIT.
  • A group of 37 buyers, including ICICI Prudential MF, Max Life Insurance, Whiteoak Capital MF, LGT Wealth India, Ambit Wealth, Neo Wealth Partners, Dezerv Investments, MVS Ventures, LTIMindtree, 360 ONE Prime, L&T Technology Services, Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance, Larsen & Toubro, Tata AIG General Insurance, and Pico Capital, collectively acquired a 16.67% stake in the trust.
