- Executing Authorities: Karnataka Road Development Corporation Limited (KRDCL) and Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA).
- Timeline: Construction originally commenced around mid-2020 with an expected completion timeline of 18–24 months.
4. Budigere Cross to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) Road
- Total Project Length: 20.11 km (often rounded to 20–22 km depending on the exact connection points).
- The Route Alignment: The road connects Budigere Cross on the Bengaluru-Kolar Highway (NH-75 / Old Madras Road) directly to the airport boundary. It cuts straight through major village belts including Mandur, Budigere, Singahalli, and Mylanahalli.
- Travel Time: Once fully clear, the drive takes roughly 25 minutes
- Lane Setup: The project is a hybrid 4-lane and 6-lane tolled highway, widening what used to be a cramped two-lane state highway (SH-104).
Broader Area Impact
Satellite Town Ring Road (STRR): The section from Hoskote to Devanahalli serves to siphon heavy truck traffic completely away from local streets, cleaning up air quality and reducing gridlock. Because this road makes the airport exceptionally accessible, peripheral areas like Budigere Cross have seen property values spike by 15–20%.
Conclusion
The works KRDCL is carrying out on the infrastructure in Bengaluru should make the area significantly more mobile and less congested with traffic and improve connectivity between the major employment, commercial and residential centres. Upon completion these projects will enable the region to continue to grow and improve the overall commuting experience for the region’s residents and businesses.
