Synopsis:
Concord Control Systems Ltd surged after unveiling India’s first fully indigenous zero-emission propulsion system. Powered by LFP batteries, the breakthrough replaces diesel idling with on-demand operation, boosting efficiency and eliminating emissions.

A railway technology stock backed by prominent investors Ashish Kacholia (1.21 percent stake) and Mukul Mahavir Agrawal (3.81 percent stake) advanced sharply after the company launched India’s first indigenous zero-emission propulsion system.

The breakthrough replaces diesel idling with on-demand battery power, driving efficiency, reducing costs, and eliminating emissions, while aligning with India’s 2030 railway electrification target.

Concord Control Systems Ltd, with a market capitalization of Rs. 1,504.55 crore, opened at Rs. 2,372.80 against the previous close of Rs. 2,273. The stock touched an intraday high of Rs. 2,435, marking a 7.1 percent rise from the previous close.

What’s the News?

Concord Control Systems has announced India’s first fully indigenous zero-emission propulsion system, designed and built entirely in India. The system, powered by Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries with a DC chopper-based drive, eliminates idle fuel consumption and delivers higher efficiency.

Every key component including the chopper, Vehicle Control Unit, driver display, sensors, and controllers, has been developed indigenously by Concord, with only a few semiconductor devices sourced externally.

The propulsion, retrofitted on a 700 HP diesel-electric platform, delivers 800A peak current to traction motors while integrating modern safety features such as CCTV/DVR monitoring, driver-friendly displays, and a Remote Monitoring System for predictive maintenance. It introduces several technological firsts, including high-voltage battery integration with choppers, CAN-based VCUs, and fibreoptic EMI-immune signal transmission.

By reducing idle losses and enabling cost-efficient operations, this scalable solution provides a pathway to converting existing diesel-powered locomotives into sustainable platforms. The breakthrough positions Concord as a global pioneer in green railway technology and advances India’s net-zero and self-reliance goals.
