The shares of this leading renewable energy company surged 4.5 percent on Friday after it reported strong profitability in this fiscal year. In this article, we will dive into into the details.

With a market share of 87,554 crores, the shares of JSW Energy Ltd are currently trading at 501 per share, down by 37.8 percent from its 52-week high of Rs 804.90 per share. Over the last five years, the stock has delivered a multibagger return of 1,161 percent.

Financial Highlights

JSW Energy reported a consolidated revenue of Rs 11,745 crores in FY25, up 2.26 percent from Rs 11,486 crores in FY24. Additionally, on a year-on-year basis, revenue grew 15.71 percent to Rs 3,189 crores in Q4 FY25 from Rs 2,756 crores in Q4 FY24. On a quarterly basis, revenue increased by 30.75 percent from Rs 2,439 crores.

It reported a net profit of Rs 1,983 crores in FY25, up 14.97 percent from Rs 1,725 crores in FY24. On a year-on-year basis, net profit rose 20.29 percent to Rs 415 crores in Q4 FY25 from Rs 345 crores in Q4 FY24. On a quarterly basis, net profit surged 164.33 percent from Rs 157 crores. Additionally, it announced a dividend of Rs 2 per share, subject to approval by the board.

Segments Highlights

JSW Energy’s consolidated thermal net generation increased 22 percent YoY to 6.2 BUs, driven by the support of KSK Mahanadi plant contributions, Utkal Unit-2 commissioning, and long-term volume expansion at Vijayanagar. Short-term generation was at 1,017 MUs, as the output of Utkal was partly diluted by lower generation at Vijayanagar due to higher long-term group captive PPAs. Long-term generation increased 27 percent YoY with a high PLF of 84 percent.

Thermal revenue rose 6 percent YoY to Rs 2,265 crore, led by production from KSK Mahanadi and Utkal. Meanwhile, EBITDA (excluding other income) fell 9 percent to Rs 678 crore on narrower dark spreads. In the year, thermal EBITDA fell 8 percent to Rs 2,334 crore. It has a total installed capacity of 5,658 MW in this segment.

JSW Energy’s renewable energy (RE) net generation increased 32 percent YoY in Q4 FY25 and 24 percent YoY for FY25, driven by addition from acquired and new greenfield RE projects.

Operating income from the renewable segment rose 50 percent YoY in Q4 FY25 to Rs 847 crore, with the push coming from greenfield capacity expansions. For FY25, RE revenue expanded 9 percent YoY to Rs 3,579 crore. Quarterly operating EBITDA improved 25 percent YoY to Rs 497 crore, and full-year EBITDA rose 3 percent YoY to Rs 2,801 crore. It has a total installed capacity of 5,217 MW in this segment.
