India’s leading EV two-wheeler company is doubling down on innovation with its largest-ever software update, at a time when the pressure is mounting to reverse rising losses and reignite sales momentum.
With performance dips in recent quarters, the company is now betting big on MoveOS 5, a homegrown technology upgrade designed to enhance the riding experience, optimise energy use, and improve long-term efficiency.
The company in focus is Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric Mobility Ltd, currently valued at a market capitalization of Rs. 18,023 crore. In a statement, a Spokesperson from Ola Electric said
“MoveOS 5 is the latest upgrade in our journey to build the most advanced and intelligent OS for EV two wheelers. This upgrade isn’t just about new features, it fundamentally enhances the performance, reliability, and range of our vehicles. With smarter energy management, real-time system monitoring, more user control over ride settings, we’re enabling our riders to get more out of every ride.
MoveOS 5 is a reflection of our commitment to continuous innovation and product evolution, and it’s been engineered to deliver a riding experience that is not only more personalized but also more robust, efficient, and future-ready.”
Financially, Ola has not performed well, with a notable decline in Revenue from Operations from Rs. 5,010 crore in March 2024 to Rs. 4,514 crore in March 2025, and quarterly revenue dropped from Rs. 1,045 crore in December 2024 to Rs. 611 crore in March 2025, a notable 41.5 percent decline. Meanwhile, net losses increased from Rs. 1,584 crore in March 2024 to Rs. 2,276 crore in March 2025, raising serious concerns about the company’s profitability and scalability.
There are a few encouraging signs in the mix. Net cash flow improved significantly, increasing from Rs. -179 crore in March 2024 to Rs. 174 crore in March 2025 reflecting a 197.2 percent increase year-on-year, and borrowings have reduced from Rs. 5,684 crore in March 2024 to Rs. 3,556 crore in March 2025, reflecting improved financial discipline. The company’s total assets also expanded from Rs. 7,735 crore to Rs. 11,075 crore, a 43.2 percent Y-o-Y rise, pointing to continuous investment in infrastructure and innovation.
Recent Concerns
Concerns arose after Ola had also come under scrutiny recently. While the company reported selling 25,000 scooters in February, Vahan portal data showed only 8,600 registrations. Ola clarified that all deliveries are completed only after the registration process is finalized.
In Maharashtra, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) conducted inspections at several Ola showrooms, checking for compliance with trade certification norms. According to sources, 36 scooters were seized across Mumbai and Pune, highlighting growing regulatory attention toward operational transparency in the EV space.
With MoveOS 5, Ola seems to be aiming for more than just flashy new features; it’s taking a step towards better energy use, a smoother ride experience, and a more sustainable future. While it’s still early to say if this will turn around falling sales and rising losses, the management believes that the foundation for a smarter, more efficient EV journey is clearly being set. The newly launched MoveOS 5 software will be rolled out across all S1 scooters and Roadster X motorcycles via over-the-air (OTA) updates starting this week.
