The Patna Pirates and the Tamil Thalaivas have enjoyed varying amounts of success in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) so far. Patna Pirates have won three titles and rank as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
Tamil Thalaivas, on the other hand, have earned a qualification spot only once in their 7 seasons in the tournament. The two franchises, however, are heading into the new campaign with leadership changes.
Patna Pirates
- Captain: Ankit Jaglan
- Vice-Captain: Deepak Singh
- Last Season’s Captain: Shubman Shinde
Reason For Change of Captaincy
The Patna Pirates have awarded Ankit Jaglan with captaincy after the former captain, Shubman Shinde, joined the Telugu Titans. Ankit Jaglan has spent the last three seasons with the franchise and is now looking to lead the Pirates to the PKL Season 12 title.
The Patna Pirates will face UP Yoddhas on September 1, 2025, to kickstart their PKL Season 12 campaign. The side will look to start the season with a win at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag.

Tamil Thalaivas
- Captain: Pawan Sehrawat
- Vice-Captain: Arjun Deshwal
- Last Season’s Captain: Sagar Rathee
Reason For Change of Captaincy
It seems a no-brainer to award the captain of the Indian men’s national kabaddi team with captaincy over the Tamil Thalaivas. Pawan Sehrawat was with the Thalaivas in PKL Season 9; however was away from the mat due to injury. There aren’t many better at handling pressure than the new captain of the Tamil Thalaiavas.
The Tamil Thalaivas will face Telugu Titans on August 29, 2025, to kickstart their PKL Season 12 campaign. Pawan Sehrawat will want to come out victorious against his former side when they meet at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Vizag.
