India’s copper sector is witnessing robust growth, with refined copper production surging 43.5% in early FY 2025–26. Imports rose 4% to 1.2 million tonnes in 2025, reflecting high demand. The nation holds 12.2 million tonnes of copper resources, but only 18% are accessible, making India the world’s second-largest copper importer.

With a market capitalization of Rs 25,655.15 crore, the shares of Hindustan Copper Ltd were trading at Rs 265.25 per share, decreasing around 3.09 percent as compared to the previous closing price of Rs 273.70 apiece.

The shares of Hindustan Copper Ltd have seen bearish movement after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 50% tariff on imports of the commodity, sparking fears of a big supply chain disruption.

Additionally, the U.S. relies heavily on Chile, Canada, and Mexico for copper imports, with a combined 74% share. Chile alone accounts for 38%, underscoring its dominance as the world’s top producer and a key player in global copper supply chains.

Looking forward to the company’s financial performance, revenue increased by 29 percent from Rs 565 crore in Q4FY24 to Rs 731 crore in Q4FY25. Further, during the same time frame, net profit increased by 54 percent from Rs 124 crore to Rs 191 crore.

Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) operates across key Indian states with integrated copper production. Major mining facilities include Khetri (Rajasthan), Malanjkhand (Madhya Pradesh), and Ghatshila (Jharkhand), contributing over 47 lakh tonnes of ore milling capacity. Refining and secondary smelting units in Gujarat and Maharashtra enhance value addition with combined refined output exceeding 110,000 tonnes per annum, boosting domestic copper self-reliance.
