About Vaibhav Suryavanshi
At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the youngest-ever vice-captain in Indian domestic cricket. Born on March 27, 2011, in Tajpur village, Bihar, Vaibhav began playing cricket at the age of four after his father noticed his passion for the game.
At nine, he joined a cricket academy in Samastipur, where he trained under former Ranji cricketer Manish Ojha.
His consistent performances earned him a call-up to Bihar’s Ranji Trophy team, and he made his debut against Mumbai in January 2024 at just 12 years and 284 days old, making him one of the youngest players ever to feature in first-class cricket in India.
Later that year, Vaibhav made headlines by smashing a 58-ball century for India U-19 against Australia, the fastest by any Indian in youth Test cricket. His raw talent caught the attention of IPL scouts during Rajasthan Royals’ trials in Nagpur, where he was challenged to score 17 runs in one over—and did so with three consecutive sixes.
At just 13 years old, Vaibhav became the youngest player ever shortlisted for the IPL auction, where Rajasthan Royals signed him, confident they had found a future star.
