Ranji Trophy is set to begin its campaign on October 15, and Bengal has announced its 17-member squad for the season. The team will be led by Abhimanyu Easwaran. Talented wicketkeeper-batsman Abishek Porel has been named as vice-captain.

Anustup Majumdar, Sudip Chatterjee, and youngster Sudip Kumar Gharami will boost the batting unit for Bengal. The bowling unit is strengthened by the inclusion of experienced players Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep.

Bengal, placed in Elite Group C alongside Gujarat, Haryana, Services, Railways, Tripura, Uttarakhand, and Assam, will open its campaign against Uttarakhand at Eden Gardens from October 15, followed by another home fixture against Gujarat from October 25. Shami has a great chance to prove his performance and earn an India call-up again.

Last season, Bengal won 2 out of 7 matches, with 1 loss and 4 draws, and finished their campaign in 3rd place in Elite Group C. The highest wicket-taker for Bengal in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy was Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal. The highest run-getter for Bengal in that season was Sudip Chatterjee. With the strong and experienced players in the squad, Bengal will have a good Ranji season this year.
