Synopsis: This small-cap technology company is entering a new growth phase led by its semiconductor business, AI infrastructure opportunities, and defense electronics presence. Management expects semiconductor revenue to grow from Rs.18–19 crore in FY26 to Rs.45–50 crore in FY27, supported by a strong order pipeline, silicon photonics demand, and a planned Rs.125 crore expansion.
The global technology landscape is being transformed by artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, advanced computing, and defense modernization, driving demand for advanced packaging, silicon photonics, optical interconnects, and high-performance electronics. Against this backdrop, IZMO is positioning itself to capitalize on these opportunities through izmoMicro, which management believes could become a major growth engine in the coming years.
izmoMicro Emerging as a Major Growth Driver
While IZMO’s automotive software business remains stable, management sees the largest growth opportunity in izmoMicro. The semiconductor division generated approximately Rs.18–19 crore in FY26 and is expected to grow to around Rs.45–50 crore in FY27. Growth is expected to come from semiconductor packaging, defense electronics, AI infrastructure, telecom, aerospace, and space-related applications.
Management believes the business has moved beyond its investment phase and is now entering a period of commercial scaling, supported by increasing customer engagements and repeat orders.
Strong Order Visibility Supports Growth
The semiconductor business currently has an order book of approximately Rs.40–60 crore and an opportunity pipeline exceeding Rs.100 crore. The pipeline spans defense electronics, semiconductor packaging, photonics, telecom infrastructure, and AI-related applications. Management noted that several customers have expanded engagements following successful project execution, providing confidence in future revenue growth. This combination of confirmed orders and a growing pipeline offers strong visibility for FY27 and beyond.
Positioned to Benefit from AI Data Center Expansion
Management believes AI-driven data centers represent one of the company’s largest long-term opportunities. As AI workloads become more complex, traditional copper-based communication systems face bandwidth and power-efficiency limitations. This is driving demand for silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies that can transmit significantly larger volumes of data.
The company sees AI infrastructure, cloud data centers, high-performance computing, and next-generation networking equipment as major demand drivers for its semiconductor capabilities.
Building Capabilities in Silicon Photonics
IZMO has developed advanced silicon photonics packaging capabilities, an area management considers strategically important. During FY26, the company achieved a breakthrough in silicon photonics packaging and was selected as the Photonic IC Packaging Partner for a government-backed silicon photonics initiative led by IIT Madras. Management believes this validates its technical expertise in a highly specialized segment of semiconductor manufacturing.
With India still in the early stages of building a domestic semiconductor ecosystem, the company sees significant long-term opportunities in specialized packaging and photonics technologies.
Defense Electronics Gaining Momentum
Defense electronics is emerging as another important growth segment. Management stated that the company has already secured repeat defense-related contracts and is witnessing increasing demand for advanced electronic packaging solutions used in mission-critical applications.
As India accelerates defense indigenization efforts, management expects defense electronics to become a larger contributor to revenue while strengthening the company’s position within the domestic defense supply chain.
Rs.125 Crore Expansion Could Unlock Future Scale
To support future demand, IZMO plans to invest approximately Rs.125 crore in semiconductor capacity expansion. Management indicated that this investment could increase addressable manufacturing capacity from roughly Rs.150 crore currently to nearly Rs.1,200 crore over the long term. The expansion is expected to strengthen capabilities in advanced semiconductor packaging, silicon photonics, and related high-growth technologies.
Outlook
IZMO appears to be entering a new phase of growth as its semiconductor business gains scale and commercial traction. Management expects FY27 growth to be supported by rising semiconductor revenue, a strong order book, expanding defense contracts, and increasing participation in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The company also expects EBITDA margins to improve as semiconductor revenues scale and higher-margin packaging solutions contribute a larger share of earnings. With growing opportunities in silicon photonics, AI infrastructure, defense electronics, and advanced semiconductor packaging, IZMO is positioning itself to benefit from some of the fastest-growing technology segments globally.
