The deadline for Europe’s Top Five Leagues for the 2025 Summer Transfer Window, September 1, edges closer. However, there are still several marquee players eyeing up a move away from their clubs.

Clubs across Europe and beyond are still looking to strengthen their squads. For some, a transfer is crucial to secure regular playing time and strengthen their case for a spot in their respective national teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

1. Alexander Isak

  • Current Club: Newcastle United
  • Rumoured Clubs Interested: Liverpool
  • Position: Striker
  • Potential Transfer Fee: £150 million

Alexander Isak’s transfer saga to Liverpool has continued for the majority of the transfer window. Despite the long nature of the saga, the two clubs are not looking any bit closer to reaching an agreement. Isak expressed his desire to leave publicly via an Instagram story during the PFA Awards ceremony.

Newcastle United stand firm on their stance and will only accept if Liverpool meets the player’s £150m evaluation. Newcastle have also failed to identify a suitable No.9 replacement for Isak, making the deal harder to successfully go through.

2. Rodrygo

  • Current Club: Real Madrid
  • Rumoured Clubs Interested: Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal
  • Position: Left Winger, Right Winger
  • Potential Transfer Fee: €100 million

The Brazilian winger is reportedly unhappy with his role in the team and may be open to a move away from Real Madrid. He’s not featured as often as he would like under new head coach Xabi Alonso. Manchester City could sign him if he becomes available, but the move is dependent on Savinho’s departure to Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal were first linked to the player; however, a deal now seems unlikely following the signings of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. Liverpool may also target the winger to replace the departed Luiz Diaz.

3. Jadon Sancho

  • Current Club: Manchester United
  • Rumoured Clubs Interested: Roma
  • Position: Right Winger, Left Winger
  • Potential Transfer Fee: £20 million

Jadon Sancho’s fall from grace is a sight for sore eyes. Joining Manchester United for £73m, he failed to find his former self and has spent the last 18 months out on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea. Chelsea had an obligation to buy Sancho for around £25 million. However, the club instead chose to pay a £5m penalty to Manchester United to get out of the obligation.

Sancho is part of Manchester United’s reported “Bomb Squad” and is out of Ruben Amorim’s plans for the season. He is being urged to accept a move to Roma because there are “no other offers on the table”.

4. Gianluigi Donnarumma

  • Current Club: Paris Saint-Germain
  • Rumoured Clubs Interested: Manchester City, Manchester United
  • Position: Goalkeeper
  • Potential Transfer Fee: €30 million

An unfortunate turn of events for the Italian goalkeeper. Donnarumma was considered a hero in PSG’s run-in to the Champions League final, leading them to the historic treble; however, he’s not considered surplus to requirements. The signing of Lucas Chevalier has forced the goalkeeper to look for a move elsewhere.

He’s most likely to join Manchester City as personal terms have already been agreed with the club, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. However, Manchester City’s decision to sign him will depend on Ederson’s exit to Galatasaray.

5. Alejandro Garnacho

  • Current Club: Manchester United
  • Clubs Interested: Chelsea, Bayern Munich
  • Position: Left Winger, Right Winger
  • Potential Transfer Fee: £50 million

Another player part of Ruben Amorim’s reported “Bomb Squad”. The winger has reportedly turned down an offer from Bayern Munich, as he has eyes set on a move to Chelsea. Chelsea maintains a strong interest in the player; however, they do not agree with Manchester United’s £50 million valuation of the player.

Garnacho must hope that a move to London materialises soon, as he has been completely exiled from the Manchester United squad. With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, the winger will need regular playing time to earn himself a spot in Argentina’s World Cup squad.
