With a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility in Nashik, Maharashtra, General Mills India, a subsidiary of Fortune 500 packaged food company General Mills Inc., marks a significant accomplishment.
This celebration honors General Mills’ growing presence in India. By August 2024, operations at the facility, which will serve as the hub for producing Pillsbury Baking Mixes for the Indian market, are anticipated.
It will be General Mills’ second manufacturing facility in India for Pillsbury Baking Mixes. The Company will spend about INR 100 crore to construct this plant and furnish it with cutting-edge infrastructure and technology.
With the addition of this new facility, General Mills India will be able to meet the rising demand for its Pillsbury bakery solutions in India by doubling its manufacturing footprint. The Pillsbury brand has a significant market share in the baking mix market and is well situated to supply baking goods to India’s expanding bakery and food service sectors.
“The bakery industry in India is witnessing remarkable growth,” said Anand Khurana, country director for General Mills India. “Beyond birthdays, cake cutting has become integral to various occasions like anniversaries, success parties and festive gatherings. Pillsbury’s bakery solutions empower bakers with consistent quality in every cake batch and enhances efficiency in the back-of-house operations of bakery businesses.
The new facility will mark Pillsbury’s commitment to serving more bakers in India and supporting their business growth.” In 1999, Pillsbury began selling Baking Mixes in India. Since then, it has established itself as the market’s top supplier of cake and dessert mixes for chefs.
The new facility in Nashik is ready to solidify Pillsbury’s status as the preferred brand among bakers nationwide and meet their changing needs. The key to General Mills’ global growth strategy is India. General Mills’ dedication to the development and prosperity of the baking industry is demonstrated by the choice to double production capacity with the new plant.
