The Indian Railways received a gross budgetary support of Rs. 2.52 lakh crore, which reflects an increase of 5 percent from the previous year. This funding is aimed at enhancing the railway infrastructure and services.
The total capital expenditure (capex) for the railways was set at Rs. 2.62 lakh crore, marking an 11.1 percent rise compared to the interim budget presented earlier in 2024.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that out of the total budget allocation, Rs. 1.08 lakh crore will be used to boost railway safety in 2024-25, focusing on upgrading old railway tracks, improving signalling systems, creating flyovers and underpasses, and installing the Kavach automated safety system on the Indian Railway network.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited
With a market capitalisation of Rs. 1.23 lakh crores, the shares of a company engaged in the business of implementing various types of rail infrastructure projects surged 0.64 percent on BSE to Rs. 596.4 on Thursday.
2nd July – Work order of Rs. 132.6 crore
RVNL emerged as the Lowest Bidder (L1) from Central Railway for OHE modification work for the upgradation of the existing 1 x 25 kV Electric Traction System to a 2 x 25 kV at Feeding System in the Wardha-Ballarshah Section in the Nagpur division of Central Railway to meet a 3000MT loading target.

9th July – Work order of Rs. 202.87 crore
The company emerged as L1 from SER HQ-Electrical/South Eastern Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of 132 KV Traction substation, sectioning post (SPs), and sub sectioning post (SSPs) in 2x25KV
System on Kharagpur – Bhadrak section of Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railway to meet 3000MT.
9th July – Work order of Rs. 187.34 crore
RVNL received LoA from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Nagpur Metro) for the Construction of 6 Nos Elevated Metro Stations in Reach 2B of NMRP Phase 2.
11th July – Work order of Rs. 138.45 crore
RVNL received a LoA from Central Railway for OHE modification work for the upgradation of the existing 1 x 25 kV Electric Traction System to a 2 x 25 kV AT Feeding System in the Amla-Nagpur Section in the Nagpur division of Central Railway to meet 3000 MT loading target.
12th July – Work order of Rs. 132.6 crore

15th July – Work order of Rs. 160.08 crore
RVNL received a LoA from East Coast Railway for the provision of an Automatic Block Signalling system with dual MSDAC and alteration in existing El/Pl/RRI stations over the Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway.
24th July – Work order of Rs. 191.53 crore
The company received an LoA from SER HQ-Electrical/South Eastern Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of 132 KV Traction Substation, SPs, and SSPs in 2x25KV System on the Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway to meet 3000MT loading target on EPC mode.
29th July – Work order of Rs. 739.07 crore
RVNL emerged as L1 for the development of distribution infrastructure at the Central Zone of Himachal Pradesh under the Revamped Reforms-based and Results-linked, Distribution Sector Scheme declared by HPSEBL.
27th August- Work order of Rs. 111.38 crore
RVNL emerged as L1 from Southern Railway for the provision of MSDAC with existing DCTC at stations and replacing balance AFTCs in MAS- GDR & MSB-TBM automatic block signalling sections of Chennai Division in Southern Railway.
30th August – Work order of Rs. 202.87 crore
The company received an LoA from SER HQ-Electrical/South Eastern Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing & commissioning of 132 KV Traction Substation, SPs, and SSPs in the 2x25KV System on the Kharagpur division of South Eastern Railway to meet 3000MT.
In a nutshell, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited has secured nearly Rs. 2,198.8 crores over the past two months, July and August.
RITES Limited
With a market capitalisation of Rs. 16,106.2 crores, the shares of India’s leading Transport Infrastructure Consultancy and Engineering firm surged 3.3 percent on BSE to Rs. 672 on Thursday.
1st July – Work order of Rs. 26.8 crore
Karnataka Mining Environment Restoration Corporation gave a Letter of Award for total Project Management Consultancy services for the Construction of Railway PFTs at Dharmapura and Susheel Nagar in Bellary District.
16th July – Work order of Rs. 50.18 crore
Public Works Roads Department (PWRD), Government of Assam, gave a LoA for Consultancy Services for Third Party Monitoring & Quality Control for 47 Roads (Length 996.7 km) across Assam under Asom Mala 2.0 for the year 2023-24.
25th July – Work order of Rs. 321.3 crore
RITES received an LoI for the work of a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) on a turnkey basis for the construction of a New Government Medical College of 100 Student Capacity & 430 Bedded Hospital at Amravati, Maharashtra, from the Directorate of Medical Education & Research, Mumbai.
3rd August – Work order of Rs. 25.8 crore
RITES has received a LoI for the work of hiring Locomotives on a wet lease basis along with the operation and maintenance at CHP, Wanakbori TPS, GSECL (Gujarat), from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited.
31st August – Work order of US$2,67,40,000
RITES emerged as the L1 in the tender floated by Tanzania Railways Corporation for the supply, testing and commissioning of 4 Diesel Multiple units for MGR.
In a nutshell, RITES Limited has secured nearly Rs. 648.63 crores over the past two months, July and August.
RailTel Corporation of India Limited
With a market capitalisation of Rs. 15,984.3 crores, the shares of India’s leading transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering firm surged 1.5 percent on BSE to Rs. 501.8 on Thursday.
4th July – Work order of Rs. 23.96 crore
The company received a work order from Webel Technology Limited for the upgradation and enhancement of existing IT and non-IT DC infrastructure at WBSDC Monibhandar.
22nd July – Work order of Rs. 186.81 crore
RailTel received a work order from the Ministry Of Railways for the design, development, implementation, operations and maintenance of HMIS and Integrated Empanelled Hospital Referral Portal for Indian Railways.
22nd August – Work order of Rs. 52.66 crore
The company received an order from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment And Promotion Board for Live CCTV surveillance service, impersonation control through aadhaar-biometric service, digital fingerprint and facial recognition during written examinations and DV&PST.
27th August – Work order of Rs. 70.93 crore
RailTel received a work order from the Eastern Railway for the implementation of Unified Comm. Infra. comprising LANInfra, IP exchange, VOlP based control comm. and IP-MPLS-based network over Eastern Railway.
In a nutshell, RailTel Corporation of India has secured nearly Rs. 334.4 crores over the past two months, July and August.
