New Delhi, Feb 16 (PTI) Crude oil prices rose Rs 87 to Rs 6,978 per barrel on Wednesday, as participants widened their positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the February delivery traded higher by Rs 87, or 1.26 per cent, to Rs 6,978 per barrel in 6,846 lots.

Analysts said the raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil gained 1.18 per cent to USD 93.16 per barrel, while Brent crude traded 1.31 per cent up at USD 94.50 per barrel in New York. PTI RUJ HRS hrs
