New Delhi, Dec 17 (PTI) Gold prices on Friday rose by Rs 89 to Rs 48,735 per 10 gram in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions amid firming spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs 89, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 48,735 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 9,096 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to the rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold prices traded 0.66 per cent higher at USD 1,810 per ounce in New York. PTI SHW RUJ RUJ
