New Delhi, Dec 24 (PTI) Gold prices on Friday rose by Rs 73 to Rs 48,225 per 10 gram in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions amid firming spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February delivery traded higher by Rs 73, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 48,225 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 8,766 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to the rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold prices traded 0.53 per cent higher at USD 1,811.70 per ounce in New York. PTI RUJ ANU ANU
