New Delhi, Jan 20 (PTI) The income tax department on Thursday said it has issued refunds of over Rs 1.59 lakh crore to more than 1.74 crore taxpayers so far this fiscal.
This includes refunds worth Rs 26,372.83 crore for the 2020-21 fiscal ended March 31, 2021, to 1.36 crore income taxpayers.
“CBDT issues refunds of over Rs 1,59,192 crore to more than 1.74 crore taxpayers from 1st Apr 2021 to 17th January 2022,” the I-T department tweeted.
Of this, personal I-T refunds of Rs 56,765crore have been issued to 1.72 crore assessees and corporate tax refunds of Rs 1.02 lakh crore have been issued in 2.22 lakh cases. PTI JD BAL BAL
