The city of Bengaluru is seeing more vehicles on the road every day which is causing a lot of traffic problems for people who are commuting on the main roads that connect the eastern and southern parts of Bengaluru. The government of Karnataka is building an elevated road that which will cost ₹852 crore, this road will connect Old Madras Road, with Electronic City giving people an alternate route to get from the eastern to the southern part of Bengaluru with less traffic.
The BDA has come up with a road corridor that will cost ₹852 crore, this road corridor will help people move easily between Old Madras Road and Electronic City. The BDA wants to reduce the number of vehicles on Outer Ring Road and Hosur Road as these roads are very busy during peak hours. The new road corridor is part of the Kambipura–Mylasandra Road project and it will provide a route for people who travel between their homes, workplaces and IT hubs.
The BDA has asked companies to bid for the project which means the project is moving forward and construction will start soon. The new road corridor will help reduce traffic jams and make it easier for people to move around Bengaluru, the city needs this because more and more people are buying vehicles and using the roads.

Route Explained
The starting point of this road is Old Madras Road or NH 75 in East Bengaluru near Swami Vivekananda Metro Station, the road goes through and connects with Indiranagar, crosses Old Airport Road, and runs along Hosur Road to finish at Silk Board Junction. This road finally ends at Electronic City in South Bengaluru.
Key Features of the Project
- The corridor is going to be a 5.2 kilometer long road with 4 lanes and will be elevated so that traffic can move without stopping.
- This corridor is special because it will not have any signals so vehicles can just keep going without stopping at any traffic lights.
- This will really help with the traffic in some areas that’re always crowded like Indiranagar, Old Airport Road and the Silk Board Junction.
- The people in charge of building this corridor have to finish it in 18 months, which is the strict deadline they have been given to complete the project.
How the Nearby Areas will get affected
This project will make it simpler for people to go to their offices in IT and commercial areas every day. A better road will help people living in areas, like Indiranagar, Old Airport Road, Sarjapur Road, Hosur Road and Electronic City to get to work and more people may want to live and work near the corridor because travel times will be faster.
The corridor will help Bengaluru’s Eastern and Southern suburbs grow in the future because of connectivity. We have to wait and see how the project is completed on time and how the surrounding areas are developed, this will decide if more people want to buy properties and if the prices will go up.
