Understanding Zerodha Pi: Pi is a new in-house desktop trading platform that was developed in collaboration with Tradelab, a small financial technology company that is developing cutting-edge trading tools.
What is the significance of the name Pi?
The number is a mathematical constant that represents the circumference to diameter ratio of a circle, which is typically approximated as 3.14159. Since the mid-18th century, it has been symbolised by the Greek letter “,” however it is also written out as “pi” (/pa/). They adore history and its irrationality and transcendence features, hence the term “Pi.”
Release Date:
On Monday, March 30th, 2015, we will release the final version. Pi was planned to be a never-ending project, with the goal of providing as many features and tools as possible throughout time. For the time being, they’ll continued to refer to this as a beta.
Is Pi going to be free?
Yes, it’s free for all of the customers, but they have invested a lot of time and money into developing and maintaining Pi.
In this area of Zconnect, which will also serve as a user manual, Zerodha has posts on every element of trading with Pi.
With Pi, Q, Quant, and Kite in their arsenal, they have provided customers with the greatest trading experience in the country in addition to the lowest brokerage prices.
Note: They had gradually provided new licences to guarantee that scaling up on Pi does not cause any problems. As a result, it’s possible that your request for access will take longer than 24 hours.

Is the Pi trading platform supported by Zerodha?
For the past 12 months, they have stopped providing support for the Pi platform and have now totally phased it out. Pi is not a Zerodha platform, and development was delayed and inefficient because software upgrades on Pi were dependent on a third-party vendor.
Their clients all utilise the Zerodha Kite application, which is a web-based platform that can easily be converted into a desktop browser software. Kite may be used with the Streak platform, which allows you to build, backtest, and deploy algorithms without knowing any code.
Here are some other Kite-only features:
- 20 Depth Market Data
- Good Till Trigger (GTT) orders
- Stock SIPs
- Basket Orders
- Margin on Order windows
- Kite provides both Trading View and Chart IQ charts.
