New Delhi, Jan 7 (PTI) Crude oil prices on Friday rose by Rs 48 to Rs 5,947 per barrel as participants widened their positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for the January delivery traded higher by Rs 48, or 0.81 per cent, at Rs 5,947 per barrel in 12,047 lots.

Analysts said the raising of bets by participants kept crude oil prices higher in the futures trade.

Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading 0.65 per cent higher at USD 76.98 per barrel, while Brent crude traded 0.67 per cent up at USD 82.54 per barrel in New York. PTI RUJ BAL BAL
